Our court is led by a Village Justice elected to a four-year term, alongside an Acting Justice appointed by the Village Board. The Acting Justice serves in the absence or disqualification of the Village Justice. We handle a variety of cases, including vehicle and traffic offenses, criminal matters, village ordinance violations, and small claims disputes.
History
The Village Court convened for the first time around 1972 at the Central Square Fire Company building, under the leadership of the Honorable Adrien Niesz and Court Clerk Pat Boyd. After Pat Boyd transitioned to the role of Village Clerk, Jeannie Pallotta filled the Court Clerk position for approximately six months. In January 1986, Pat Sidlik began her tenure as Court Clerk, a role she still holds as of 2009.
Throughout the years, Village Justices have included the Honorable Adrien Niesz, the Honorable Thomas House, the Honorable M. J. Harrell, and the Honorable Maureen Stetson. Additionally, Acting Village Justices such as the Honorable Colvin, the Honorable Patch, and the Honorable Michael Avery have served when necessary.
